Community involvement |

Smith’s Pizza Palace Plus is dedicated to community involvement in the Cameron County area. As part of this effort, Dave spends time each year in the classroom. The elementary classroom, that is. He teaches third and fourth graders in Emporium and Austin how to hand-toss pizza dough. The kids have a great time and learn something at the same time. |
A popular special feature at the Palace has been the "Homerun Board." The Smiths gave a pizza to each player in Emporium who hit a homerun this past season. Since baseball season is over, Dave had to think of something new. He will be offering a special token during football, basketball, and wrestling seasons. On October 7, the Palace held a pizza making contest. The Pizza Palace Plus is one of only 38 pizzerias in the United States to host the Lindsay Olive and World Pizza Champions contest. Children were given the opportunity to invent a pizza. Each recipe must include Lindsay olives. The winner will receive a case of olives and the chance to name their pizza. Even more exciting, the winning pizza will be placed on the menu for a year. |
